Ayurveda is the science of life. It has been practiced for over 5,000 years and is our blueprint to a healthy, vibrant existence. This ancient science teaches us how to live in harmony with nature's seasonal cycles. When we are balanced mentally, physically and emotionally we are strong, energetic and we thrive. The 3 basic energies in Ayurveda are Vata, Pitta and Kapha, they are made up of the 5 elements of Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. Each person has a combination of these elements making them a unique being with shared characteristics. When we lose that balance it throws everything off and we experience conditions such as lethargy, stiffness and pain, mental fog, digestion and sleep issues. Anything that ails you is a message from your body that imbalance has set in, and the disharmony needs to be addressed before more major issues can arise. Ayurvedic principals are both healing and preventive. It is natural and useful for anyone.

What should you expect during a therapy session?
What I do you've probably never experienced. A Bindu Chikitsa session will begin with you lying face up, fully clothed, on a comfortable futon on the floor. Your radial pulse on both wrists will be assessed for about 5 to 10 minutes in which time you will begin to relax as any questions you have are answered. This is your time to let go and rebalance. Depending on what is discovered in the assessment, Acupressure and Marma points are stimulated in a specific and systematic way unique to each session. Points are intentionally pressed on various parts of the body and specific stretches and physical manipulations are gently guided to help free up stiff or frozen joints and blocked energy. Your breath will be guided during physical movements so a deep, grounded meditative state can be experienced. The most important part is to let go as completely as possible for yourself at that moment.
