What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is the science of life—a system of understanding health and balance that has been practiced for more than 5,000 years. It offers a blueprint for living in alignment with nature’s rhythms, including seasonal cycles that influence the mind, body, and emotions. When these systems are in balance, we tend to feel energized, resilient, and clear.

Ayurveda describes three core energies—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—formed from the five elements: ether, air, fire, water, and earth. Each person has a unique combination of these elements, shaping individual tendencies and needs. When balance is disrupted, it can show up as fatigue, stiffness, mental fog, digestive changes, or sleep challenges—signals that the body is asking for attention and recalibration.

Ayurvedic principles are both preventive and supportive, offering a natural framework for understanding patterns before they escalate. This knowledge is practical, adaptable, and relevant for anyone seeking a more balanced, sustainable approach to health.

Gerald Pollack is a lifelong student of Ayurveda and Vedic philosophy and a co-founder of Ozer Health, which he helped launch in 2024 to make authentic Ayurvedic knowledge more accessible in the modern world. He has had the rare privilege of studying with living masters of these traditions, including Vasant Lad, Robert Svoboda, and David Frawley (Pandit Vamadeva Shastri)—teachers whose influence continues to shape how he understands and applies this ancient science of life.

With more than 30 years in natural health and over two decades focused on Ayurveda, Gerald brings both depth and humility to his work. He remains an active student, continually expanding his understanding of related disciplines. Most recently, he returned from India, where he continued his studies in Vedic Astrology (Jyotish) with Dipak Saklani. He is also deeply committed to the study and practice of pranayama, having learned from many respected teachers, including Robert Moses.

Gerald co-founded Ozer Health out of a desire to demystify Ayurveda and help people understand how ancient principles can be applied practically—regardless of background, belief system, or life circumstances. By embedding this knowledge into a modern, AI-driven platform, Ozer extends teachings that were once difficult to access, offering guidance that is educational, preventive, and grounded in lived experience.

Based in Nashville, TN, Gerald’s work is centered on sharing Ayurvedic wisdom in a way that is inclusive, relevant, and adaptable—supporting individuals everywhere in exploring a more balanced, natural, and informed approach to life.
